A visa is an entry permit that is granted for a short-term and temporary stay of up to 90 days in a 180-day period. When the visa validity period expires, the person must leave Finland and the Schengen Area.
Visa applications are submitted in VFS Global Visa Application Centers in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Visa Application Centers are open Mon-Fri 9.00-17.00 (New Delhi) and Mon-Fri 9.00-15.00 (other cities). The Visa Application Centers are located at the following addresses:

It is possible to submit a visa application at the Embassy only with a prior appointment. Number of appointments to be given are limited. Appointments can only be booked through Visa Application Centers.

The visa application form needs to be signed by the applicant. The form can be completed electronically and printed out. Only application forms in English are accepted.

The recipient of a decision made by a Finnish mission to refuse, to annul or to revoke a visa (otherwise than at the request of the visa holder), may request rectification of the decision from the mission. Instructions for a rectification request are appended to the decision. The rectification request must be lodged within 30 days of notice of the decision on the visa application. The rectification request must be made in writing in Finnish or Swedish.
A decision of a Finnish diplomatic or consular mission on a rectification request may be appealed to the Helsinki Administrative Court. The right of appeal applies to rectification request decisions that are made on 1 April 2016 or later. Instructions for appeal are appended to the decision on the rectification request. The appeal document must be lodged with the mission that made the decision. The mission submits all the appeal documents to the Helsinki Administrative Court. The appeal must be lodged within 30 days of notice of the decision on the rectification request. The appeal must be made in writing in Finnish or Swedish. The Administrative Court fee of the appellate proceedings is EUR 250.
In visa matters relating to the free movement of EU citizens and their family members, the applicant may appeal to the Administrative Court without a rectification request procedure.
Applying for a visa in the neighboring countries
Finland is represented by Sweden in visa affairs in Bangladesh. The visa applicants living in Bangladesh are requested to submit their applications at the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka.
Norway represents Finland in Sri Lanka. The applicants are requested to submit their applications at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo.
Finland is represented by Netherlands in Pakistan, where the applicants may submit their applications at the Dutch Embassy in Islamabad.
